i promised jx i wld blog abt our bintan trip and attempt to revive my already dead blog. so here goes.

day -1 (wed)
i was frantically still in offce trying to tie up loose ends from all the work related issues. she has to come down after my golf class & accompany me to finish my tasks. in the end was replying emails etc till abt 11pm! yet she didnt complain 1 bit (at least i didnt hear ;) ) lucky we bought some supplies prior to our departure to bintan as our research shown that the prices there are exorbitant & insane, which can range from S$15 -$50 per person for a meal.

for the great foresight & patience shown: 1 point

day 0
everything was great, nicely all packed up, dad gave us a lift to tmft, havent stepped there for ages & it was quite pleasant, way better than JB's customs. the procedure was pretty smooth except for few ang mohs who apparently mastered the kiasu-ism from the master singaporeans. they started queueing, shoving way before the gate is even open. no wonder even mm lee mentioned abt decline in courtesty & manners for ang mohs. but lucky im big size, so no 1 dared to bully & push me ard. and also, i gt a gf who has justice-bao-lookalike-face, + a mean diao, so no1 dare to bully us while boarding Aria Gupala (Cool name for a vessel hor)..

wa la. an hr later and we reached bintan's ferry terminal. nice clean polite. enff said. the rooms & beach are way above our expectations (tks to xx, i tot ours is realli terrible)

for the garang attitude & menacing face: 1 point

day 1 & 2
spent most our days lazing ard by the beach, drinking overpriced bintan beer, bobbling in the seas.. simple short sweet.

for the artistic photos taken & applying sunblock for me: 1 point

so the verdict, the short getaway trip was gd, with the sun sea sand, but the one that scored that most is not sun, sea, stars & sand or anything else. haha but its u. beautiful.

to add on to ms x,

the sink has a filter to trap food from going into the pipe and choking it. If you choose to shaft the food trapped by the filer down the sink rather than taking it out and dump it in the rubbish bin, wait till it choke and flood the whole kitchen with foul smelling water, like last year.

To the asshole-who- can't-aim and use the 2nd floor toilet, for goodness sake, you have been shitting on the toilet seat for the whole sem everyday. I seriously wonder how you do it, and the only conclusion i can come to is that you were squatting on the toilet seat. For goodness sake, squat at the squat toilet, Toilet seats are for SITTING. I don't think you are being fair to the whole of 2nd floor who has to bear with your shit (literally) and the auntie who has to clean your crap. Even my fat ass can fit the toilet seat, I can't see why you can't.

If you don't know how to use a toilet, tell me and I'll recommend a good nursery for you to learn. Don't worry, it wouldn't affect your CAP.

its been awhile since i last post, coming up with many excuses not to. work, tiredness, lack of topics etc, the list goes on and on. but maybe at the end of the day, im jus plan lazy to update the whole hw am i doing.

anw, life has been great, more challenging than not, the usual work politics, weight gain issue, money, what else are there for us to worry at this stage of mine.. :S interestingly, i felt some sense of ownership when i was walking thru ikea with my parents & bro yest.. that sort of feeling of .. like getting a ownership of smthing.. a say, a contribution in smthing.. i think deep down thats the ulimate motivation i want.. to be able to get a property on my own (+ my spouse support of cos) and design in accordance to my way. i want to have a say in all the decor, the spatial layout, the colors, the materials, this is probably due to my passion in designing, actually thinking of getting a part-time diploma in smthing related to interior designing, but its easier said than done.

went for a family gathering/house warming yest nite, long drawn complicated family issue, to simply matters, jus treat him as a long forgotten family member, its too complicated to discuss this here. anw, its quite amazing to see the wealth disparity between him and 'us' .. he being landed-property, few luxurious cars n all, but us prob leading the humble simple life. but, im nt envious or anything, jus appalled by how powerful money can get, to even create feuds between blood relationships.

my immediate objective is to clear my study loan, then to start a teeny weeny bit of readup on knowledge on investment, then to get another source of income, i think its time, the time for family planning, at least try to start. haha sounds scary, yep, but it has to start someday :)

i realised the power of giving, especially just a little red packet could do wonders to your loved ones.

i feel i've grown somehow, something i will share soon.

when you reach 25 yrs old, u agar noe that bdae surprises are nt really surprises anymore, can relac abit and dun take celebrations too seriously.. i also feeling that, not really waiting for big surprises.. but my my boy was i surprised, chao big time.

it was the 1st time i received flowers! haha.. a bouquet a neatly wrapped roses were presented to me when i met jx at marina sq, wa lau.. quite the bomb, it totally revolutionise the idea of buying flowers from guy to ger. gers, take note. then a well-crafted arrangement with ken & darren to get my buddies + partners for the bdae dinner at jap restaurant at waraku, the bomb! despite some minor miscomm, the celebration was really very very heartwarming. tks to those who came!

the gifts i received are beyond monetary value, its really a result of friendship, bondship and family bloodhood. thanks to pa ma huan & jun for the pedro brown leather shoes, waterboi & aili for the goldlion handphone strap, darn classy la. tks to darren, ken & vince for the braun buffel coin&key pouch. lastly, tks to the incredible superwoman who get me a bouquet of roses, a handcrafted bdae card and a personal fav braun buffel wallet + many many surprises, too much details to share. ;)

even tho there are work issues, challenges, timeline, politics to deal with everyday, i'm blessed with a wonderful gift to share my worries. i cldnt be more thankful for those many hrs u sacrifice in planning & accompanying in the medical reviews etc.

1 more special someone, i dunno hw to describe the fuzziness in my heart when my grandma called me to ask me abt my knee condition.

wonderful. 1st of the few occassions kr dnd ended on time. have to give it to alvin & gang for tight programme. was infact elated that some of the past mistakes were nt repeated, however at the expense of some grandeur & comfort of last yr's. nevertheless, it was an excellent event, the sound was gd, the residents enjoy and above all the emcee, simply classy.

great to catch up with the load of alumnis there, somehw felt it was in the past again.. i still rem the old times when we were the best dressed table, haha macdonalds! haha it was classic, we were the 1st to have costumes out of our body frame, ie, hon's fries.. haha, as we can see from this yr, everyone was bldg on big big structures, haha the finding nemo's was particularly massive, i rem having to move to clear the poor girl in that shark's suit. hha.. b'blk's stars wars was impressive, have to give it to them..

as for performance, dblk's kungfu hassle and meet the fockers's capeiro martials dance rendition is a hit. thats really pure talent. smart integration of skills. personally i think eblk's performance was the best, we all know adrian cant sing/dance any better than me, but somehw they exploit lish's strength, which obviously is showmanship and vocal strength, together came up with a mini musicial.. wonderful, wonderful. its prbably the q&a segment n this performance segment tat sealed the ms kr deal for her as well. ablk's F1 intro was .... -_- ... walau, 'im not gd with balls, only gd when they are with humans'... liberal also nt like dat.. grey line b/w being witty & bimbotic.

as pual koh (1998 kr eblk alumni) put it across neatly, she (lish) is probably the most hungry for it (the crown).. haha .. thats y she gt it. mr kr is close fight la. hard to say, but i wld say its a gd choice too, hes actually my personal frienbd/jr in maris, very intelligent person, has alot of weird likes and talents. congrats to all the winners.

its waterboi's bday and i owe him a treat, so on fri, me jx waterboi and aili went to heeren lemongrass for authentic thai food, it was gd, way better than the lemon grass we had in usa ny. anyway, being the usual cock waterboi, he told us he had a reservation at the restaurant... so when me & jx reach there, the host was asking under whos name was it reserved.. immediately i blurted 'waterboi'... then.. he gave me this wth face.. he tot i was joking.. then i say ng wen keung.. again.. he gave me the wthhh face..

wah lau.. after a gd 10sec of trying to figure out his reservation name, jx spotted aili's name.. and waterboi was jus a few tables infront of us, the trademark sniggling n grinning. he is, undoubtly kr's best joker.

jus when i tot my knee was getting better, it strike again. this time its a possible meniscus tear, the pain was immense. sian.. all over again. went to a pte hospital to get diagnose, immed they can fix an appointment for MRI, consultation. whereas for govt hospital, u gonna wait a month till the cobwebs start to form.. but all these for a stark monetary difference of at least 5x!!

need to work, need to have financial freedom to protect ourselves and to pay for medical bills.

its almost 40 odd days to the day we reunite, the days seems long and ardous, but a dosage of voice and squeals brings my world to pace again.

the beginning was never easy, infact i was turn down flat on the face, rejection was a big blow to me, but i never took it to hard, i didnt have any plans initially. i was sorta building on smthing that i found potentially beautiful. haha... nevertheless, i can still rem the expression on her face and the phone call that followed shortly after that look.

took me a couple of days to accept the facts, took things as a matter-of-factly and proceed with my life, trying much nt to associate and communicate with her. haha, but things are weird, sometimes when u want something badly, it would jus repel from u, similarly when u dun yearn for something, it certainly seems to be following ur heart. i gt more n more indication that things eventually turn out rite and positive, even tho her words say no.. her action somehow spoke otherwise. then, my blackhole was very apparent. i accepted that, i see him as a friendly foe, nt enemy or wat.. infact seeing her out for supper with blackhole sometimes just dampen my mood, but that was freedom and i respect that.

things grew positive, unexpectedly. chatting on the fone, daily dosage of sms seems to be an habitual thing.. and often end off with smiles & grins. many externalities were in the picture too, consciously or subconsciously hitting on her, but she blatantly neglect their pursuit and reinterate her stand once again to me. by then, i was pretty sure nothing could blossom for that period, and i didnt try to make things special.. and i did if wat i feel i should, not out to impress, but more of caring. many a times, she reminded me nt to be exceptionally nice to her, i told her i wasnt, that was just me being me, seriously no ulterior motive.

undercovering was fun. that was the thrill we were living in that period. everything was under wraps. the flirting, the outright profession, lovey dovey sms, and love notes was part & parcel every nite, i mean morn, from 3am - 7am.. the late nite campings in her room was fun, never physical, more of verbal interaction, horsing ard and practically luffing at ea other's company. wkends were fun too, i enjoyed the late night chats tremendously, more so when she mentioned she has never chat with pple on the fone for a loong loong time. means im special, somehow.

the nite cycling was the nite that everything changed. the day before i was suggesting to her to tag along with me as a lorry driver. so that we can spend some time horsing ard. i didnt expect her to take it seriously, but she did. she came on my lorry, ha, i was super happy, but of coz i didnt show it la, it was a gd ride, with occassional dares and forfeits of strawberry margaritas, hugs and kisses, ya and of coz, those tickles. unforgettable.

day after nite cycling was when everything formalised. a simple gesture of hand over knee was all it needs. i was in heaven, cos i noe i caught an angel. i know the remaining 2 mths was gonna be sweet, but the departure would be bitter, but i assured, she assured and both of us were assured and it was never the same again. we spend countless nites watching movie, studying, suppering, gossiping, sharing hall experiences, it was totally enjoyable... the positive trait is that she listens, and listens with her heart. and always put others before her. oh, n her neatness is scary, but i muz really commend those organization skills. i tot i was good, but she's better n is definitely more organized than me. i say with her ard, we complement ea other, over the months it proved to be true. so so so true.

the day after nite cycling was actually 5 mar. so 5th to us is somehow a undeclared special day. so thousand of miles apart, with 12hrs varying apart, i decide to post this entry at the middle of 5&6th, so it will be 5th on her side. happy anniversary. maybe it means nothing much, but i feel its an indication of how strong & passionate can this relationship be. i am very sorry im tied down by work, not to be able to talk freely as i would to, jus endure abit more, things wld revert back to normal in 40+ days soon.

im so glad we took the plunge together.

actually 1 of the unique thing i did in taiwan was the going to a hot spring, but in this case, its even more special becoz its naked! haha .yaaa. .so myself ken n darren went in, nt too bad.. saw an uncle there doing the treatment. it was mid noon, drizzling outside, so there wasnt alot of pple out there... it was abt 20sgd for full day.. so we tot its a gd deal, but after soaking for 45mins, we seh leh.. haha and left abt an hrs time .

the facilities there are pretty new and cool, like those u see on japan hr.. gt chance EVERYONE shd go to a hot spring like this, naked or not u decide, but this is really an expereince nt to be missed.. i think i will put an end with the taiwan stuff, blogger takes ages to upload the pics, i will jus upload all the encounters in facebook. those who havent try, shd!! my name on facebook is yeoh cheng yow. no prizes for guessing correctly.. its quite intuitive n user friendly, try!

hi folks, finally gt some time to edit the pics, its nt ez, cldnt find a better way to do it, so gonna use adobe ps to do, instead of time-saving powerpt, i dunno how la. in short, the taiwan trip was a great getaway, great visual indulgence, great travel companions, only short of money and the disgusting ever ongoing freak rain..

the hostel is quite cool, they call it 'min su', direct translation is commoner's housing, its really similiar to hostel style, the rooms are pretty small, but for sgd15 a nite, u get cable tv, free adsl internet (1 terminal tho), free laundry service, basic kitchen facilities n etc.. its really a great bargain, nt to mention is jus 3mins walk away frm the mrt station. the hostel owner is great too, ever so frendly, she went all out to help us plan our day, even go as far as calling up to DBS bank (TW branch) to check hw come sg's atm card cannt draw money from tw's atm machines. respect! .. their service there is definitely a tier higher than ours! gonna work harder for us..

their mrt lines are more established, reaching to all major places and all within walking distance.. nt ez too, abt 80c - $2 for a travel, similiar to sg.

the shilin ultimate combo. the food haven. my verdict for the best: TAIWANESE SAUSAGE.. its fking big and juicy and its far better than those we eat in sg's pasar malam. ok price, abt 5bucks for the long schlong. the shilin chicken cutlet is ginormongous, prob 2x sg's size and its UNCUT.. authentic tw's style. its tender n steaming.. the spices, chilli powder jus enhance the aroma, we ate like 3times in 9days, dat explains my additional 3kg of fats hanging ard my waist. roar.

this is another must have for us, the mister donut, originated from japan, but managed to get a stronghold in taiwan. its the bomb. comparable to krispy cremes. yumyummm.. haha so almost everyday each of us would have it as breakfast.. ken would have 2of those, me 3, darren 4 n above.. haha that explains the height n width discrepancies.

more updates to come, arranging n formatting the pics takes darn long rar.

gonna start work in 3days time at JTC, travelling time takes 50mins from home. hmm.. prbably need a car, but cant afford one. investment planning, trip, post grad masters.. i shall tackle them 1 by 1. can't wait.

10 things u least noe abt taiwan, well at least for me

1. they are big on recycling, even collecting used/stained toilet paper, receipts, etc
2. its raining almost 20hrs a day in taipei
3. they are well mannered and conformed to traffic rules

it was an interesting and enriching 2 wks of YEP and 5 days of gruelling shopping (i cannt stand shopping :S).. alot of wonderful memories, alot of laughter, joy scandals and above all alot of new friendships and bonds. also, this overseas experience actually allow me n jx to feel more for ea other, oddly but true, something very intense emotionally.

for the YEP trip, we accomplised a series of things

1. to repair and construct check damns for the karen village in chiangmai

2. to repair and refurbish study centre in the village church

3. to interact and forge new friendship with the villagers

4. experience new sensations never occur in sg before

i will just hightlight a few events in a couple of days time that was particularly interesting ya, else those entry can take ages.

packing on a wkend in hall is so sad.

3 out of the 6 shelves above are cleared of stuff, empty now, its just like how i first moved in hall, slowly shifting in, now its just the reverse, shifting back. sigh.

i've bid farewell to people that matters to me the most, from master, RFs, hall managers, to jcrc, my neighbours, blkcomm, 5th gers, 3rd fl singing birds, gym kias and some 2nd fl gems. so for those who did received something, u guys taught me a lesson or 2 throughout my stay here. thank u.

its really great, to come as a freshie eguanababy and then to a senior and then to a final yr, the journey has been really eventful, plenty of ups and downs, learn abt time management, eq, IQ, public speaking and the list goes on. there are certain things and pple that left a deep impression on me. i think im prepared to move on to my next phase of life, to be a working adult with new responsibilities. i knew i had matured when i didnt shed a tear at the last fyf supper, not during command too. i guess all gd things have to come to an end somehow. 'moving on' is the correct term.

hall politics. blk politics. its inevitable, theres no perfect solution to them, u cannt please everyone, just a fair balance, but then again, who is to judge where the balance line is? paradox of life. accept it.

for those keen anticipaters, yes, we are together, in a unique way. its more than just friends, less than official partners, but surely as supportive and giving as soulmates. it had been a roller coaster ride, full of ups and downs, surprises and anticipation. nevertheless, it turned out blissful. the many months ahead would actually paved the kind of relationship we will be leading.

being an almost adult to-be has its perks and dirt. seen thru most, experience most of young adult stuff and seen the evil and ugly side of adulthood. the key essence i learnt thruout these years as a young adult in hall is communication and respect. commanding respect thru respectful communication. lately, blk/hall issues are at its peak, issues are brewing and no one seems to be able to remediate the situation. everyone feels that fyf should place things back to original before we leave. i beg to differ, this is your problem, my problem was solved during my time. now its your turn. indeed changes are hard to accept and certain priorities are more important to one than the other. all these can go on and on, it will never be resolved until one compromises, and all to learn to accept and shut up. if we cannot stomach such displeasure at this level, u have nt grown up, u havent learn much. no need to talk about hall passion, personal glory, blk pride, its really up to ownself to balance objectives. afterall, its just hall, no need to take it too personal.

wat a hectic sem, wk5 already. ihg's ending, sem break coming, hall pro next wk, cny next wk, yep coming, im graduating. wow. seriously im entering the next phase of my life already and im already feeling the pressure.

i found the feeling of wanting to know someone better, its a feeling that was missing since mud. i guess it really takes alot of fate, time and space to nurture something. and of coz, it has to be 2way, 1way traffic is never going far. i met up with mud over the wkend, my, shes still the bomb, just a size bigger, but the mindset and wavelength is synonymous with mine. i enjoy the maturity, i like that kind of companionship. on the other way, viet is bubbly, innocently shrewd and attractive. its that kind of childlike that drawn pple to her, the need to care, protect her is natural. and that too, attracted me as well.

right now, im at the grey region where i should just follow my instinct to care and share or be plain realistic about the timing mismatch. i know im capable of being a gd partner, just nt too sure if i shd commit myself to convince now. i wonder why, but the eagerness to prove a pt is not as intense as a yr ago, perhaps its i havent found the xfactor yet. does age really matters, in my honest opinion, yes it does, significantly.

we had our 2nd prelims todae against our neighbours, we lost, thrashed, convincingly by 13 goals. i think its not how gd these offences were, they are decent, but its probably a wrong match up of tactics, plus lack of mental preparation. the aggressiveness against th was far menacing than todae's match. today's intensity is only a mere fraction of wat we are capable of, but no excuses. sh played a better game today, they whipped our arse, big time, to compensate for their 6yrs losing streak.

the 1st 2yrs of my handball career against then was never an issue, seniors would tell me we would be able to contain them without worries. im really bitter over this whole saga. i cldnt help it but sometimes fault myself to injure at the wrong time. then again, even with me playing, things might nt turn for the better still.

some players get to play, some not, some waited for 4godamn yrs, some get to play in their first. the whole idea of meritocracy is that we have to perform to get in, it has to be weigh together with confidence and abit of luck. it is a tricky issue to pen down the 14players, let alone fielding 7 players down on court. to those who missed the lineup list, theres a reason for everything. indeed we wld be feeling sore and bitter, even disillusioned abt this sport with all the hard work in training. i say hang on, this is a love or hate feeling, we cant always expect to be in the team jus becoz we feel we are gd enff, or we are final yr or even jus becoz the captain is our close accquaintance. i noe sometimes such arrangements are inevitable, but a certain degree of strictness and fairness ought to be enforced. so, brace up, get up on ur feet and continue playing. if not, probably hball is nt your cup of tea afterall. i can safely say i can relate to this particular grp of players, u can never imagine hw tough issit for me to get back to hball court after a surgery, trying to be able to play a hball match again, trying to read the game, trying to influence n motivate the players. still, i know i love this game. no matter wat it is, i will be still in the game, as a player, supporter, coach or referee.

i am disappointed. but i see this as a 1st setback to the kr hball family, jus like hw our friendly neighbour is making the right moves to get the overall guys ihg 3rd. i guess time would slowly nurse the wounded ego and pride of kr hballers. thank you dear supporters, sorry for the lackustere performance, you guys deserve better, we will train harder and wiser.

this year's ihg is a big mess. alot of big hiccups and mismatched. enough said, im going to be a demanding coach and a lukewarm fan.

i gt a call from a mnc contruction and engineering firm, they had a new job opening entry for fresh grads, its sorta like a merger of QS and cost engr, and they call it cost engineers, sounds enticing. and definitely challenging.

the HR called and chatted with me casually. asking in a very light hearted tone, "we are just worried if you can bring your ego down to accept this job,.. it requires one to learn from the very beginning.. from the site level to the upper mgment level. "

naturally, i said 'of coz, im ready to accept challenges!'

i must say she was abit taken aback. ha, then she told me the engin dept would follow up with the interview. i am keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully going thru a successful interview(if any) this time.

things are indeed still the same, i feel its a risk worth taking, this at least widen my scope on the real friendly competitiors, their existence, their style and their commitment. its amazing to see so many pple fallen for the shrewd ice cold facade, breaking in trying to taste the warm fuzzy fillings. somehw i feel magic is brewing, just waiting for the right time ingredient.

the kr semi finals with our friendly neighbour was probably one of the best supported ihg sports among all halls and best i've seen in the years in hall.

it was simply breathtaking.

some say its becoz of the venue, some say its the rivalry, watever it is, we did show what we are capable of when we are united as one, yes, jcrc, blkcomm, smu, sports captain, rockers, cheer comm and the residents. and indeed, it heightened the whole game atmosphere and definitely push the game to a higher level. i can safely bet that EH and TH muz be oozing with envy the support we show to our players even tho we are not the top sports halls.

i mus really commend on the jcrc this yr. impressive and dedicated so far. our dear sports sec, greys' anatomy george o'malley-lookalike is outright stunner. from his eyes, we can see the passion and love for this place, his pirated-mambo-dance-moves in the mud-k-k-k-kr cheers was unforgettable. also, the p and vp are equally influential, their presence are felt. lin and co, with his wings over rockers definitely add the punch to the cheers, with those sensational drumbeats, roaring the players to perform harder.

im so touched. this is the true kr blue, sea of blue. its back. this IS what IHG all about. united as one. not those folklore of undermining certain sports for one over others etc etc.

im waiting for the kr hall anthem to be sung again, to relive my virigin tear for kr in the very same atmosphere.

last wkend before the sch reopens. the last official sch term has come back. getting all prepared for the final sem of my nus life.

a couple of days ago, someone broke the news to me that janelle was hospitalised in usa, met with some car accident, warded to icu, having some difficulties with her lungs. it came so sudden. it was only like yest we were training hball together, perfecting her 9-m shots, with her usual bimbotic antics and expression, gawd, i miss her. babe, pls come back alive and kicking. i pray for your speedy recovery and come back to papa! :)

todae was an eventful meeting. met up with all my closest cousins. one just came back from aus, term break from her masters. small world, both my cousins know janelle, one of them is her jr in track n fields back in cedar, the other was her temp teacher in cedar as well. it was great catching up with them, recalling all the best moments of us travelling together, those family trips, such fun, aint coming back. there is this little chance that we can go aus to visit my cousin end of sem2 as a grad trip, lets see.

oh ya, forget to mention im part of chingay, i guess im really lucky to steal the limelight, again. ha. for god's sake, im just a free loader, those 14 previwers are really cream of the crops, they really put their hearts and souls to it, 100marks for effort. frankly, i was more impressed with the backscene workers, esp zee, the engineers and the ex-co. i would say the admin & logistics were almost flawless, all other delay were due to external factors, weather, bus, tv crew.. saluate.. nevertheless, this channel U chingay preview would be aired soon, would let u guys know when. im jus proud i can be part of this magnificent feat again. however, as we (rag performance) do it more frequently, it sorta lost the true meaning to it. the only time i feel all jittery and passionate was during the actual rag day 06 itself. the performances thereafer, like the Plaza sing showcase, this chingay media preview is a mere fraction of the true exhilaration as when vying for the shield.

pretty tough for the old passionate overwhelming feelings to come back.

Now, i have to come back to reality, to deal with my fyp, i gonna hit NLB tmlo to sort out some readings and measurements.

wat a blast, 2006 ended on a .. new .. note.

ha, yep, i attended church, invitation from ben and friends to church for some countdown thingy, think was called Nightwatch or smthing like that. my, the church is really grand, from a building major undergrad pt of view, that is a mean and expensive project, extensive planning, gd materials, elaborate facade. very grand.

the crowd is very warm, the speakers are very well articulate. however as the night progresses, it tends to be abit too preachy, with people sharing their testimonails and such.. well.. i had a minor argument with some uncle over there which temporary made me shut off from all the preaching n praying. ha, but its alrite. i was pretty amazed by the whole episode anyway. msn me if u are keen to know.

i saw many budding n fading of relationships, made me really wonder how much should one put into a relationship. nevertheless, i believe everything happens for a reason. we should really consider our own doings before questioning others.

my marists buddies asked me a funny qn on xmas eve, "why the hell are u still single?' i find it incredibly amusing. ahha. its as if i WAS never single for too long, probably to them i was the playboy. no i wasnt. think maturity comes along with age, together with peers around you, made me realised alot of more stuff abt commitments and partners. ya, i think i could prpbably explained why i was single for so darn long, i think i am still attracted to mud. ex is no longer an issue, we are still argubly friends, nothing more. but with the passing of a new year, this is the time to proceed. its time to resurface and reconnect with the world again. thank u, for everything.

i find few individuals particularly interesting. maybe its the whole new knowing someone-better-phase.. we shall see.

new year resolution: to get 6 pack abs, ya rite, to maintain honours, get a decent job, love my family more and be a responsible person..

there u go, the long overdue pics of the phuket trip pics. the trip was great, learnt a couple of things, esp on the fun and joy of backpacking. ha, at the same time realised the importance of people dynamics. ang mohs are nt as wild as we think, at the same time, locals are not as decent as we think too ;)

anyway, it had been a hectic xmas season. alot of ups and downs. for me, its the usual, marists gathering then a homeparty hosted by my bro. dunno y, kinda prefer a quiet, laidback party these days. no longer fancy those clubbing countdown already. maybe its time for me to find a happening partner to spice up my life.

im so happy to have a new fone, with 95% of my contacts still in there, coz i sync with my pc, hence i jus need to sync with my ms outlook again. thank you to those who contributed to the qingyou's-new-hp-fund people, totally appreciate that.

we attended the 5th fl open fl yest and 4th fl open fl 2 wks ago, i muz say its truly amazing. heh, i am proud to say that this idea was the brainchild when i was in the blkcomm 3yrs ago (yr1) then. we sorta proposed this idea to the our blkhead then sumei abt the interaction between fls, coz as compared to the old hall, the layout is totally different, eblk used to face a communal swing, surrounded by a U-shaped building envelope, ha, so meaning if u have smthing sneaky going on, everyone can see.. so it was a big hit when we get to see different rms with their unique layout.

it progressed further, we had a interfl best room competition. ha, and the idea was propelled even further, when i was the blkhead, we tried for a interblk best room competition coz we identify the success of the open fl visits. haha, shortly after that, we had our MAF with SH and that was our showcase room to SH! ha, i rem their envious faces. however, on the flipside, it caused some security concern, apparently the winner of eblk interfl competition (a female model) was harrassed a couple of times at the wee hrs.. haha.. oh well.. ;) it was fine eventually.

i took a few leaps of faith, taking up certain challenges in leadership roles, circumventing the OSA system to get recommedees to eblk, try rag dance, perform for kr talentime (then).. never had any regrets. along the way i hit obstacles, it jus taught me to be stronger. i've seen how blk dynamics can be formed by prearranging residents' rooms, the calibre and interests of residents and also how bgr can build/ruin a potential fine resident. i've seen eblk transforming from a clubbing blk to a holy blk, issues-infested to be issues-free. i've identify the power of alumni, the need of giving back, the idea of reciprocation and jus being appreciative.

in all and all, the blk dynamics, the blk community should only get better after every yr. i mus say the yr2s and yr3s are doing a great job. mus always rem the idea of continuity, someone muz always be the one doing the dirty work, but at the same time, thats when u learn.

stand tall. stand proud. have faith in yourself like how our snrs had faith with us too. its natural to compare but always rem everyone has its own flaws and strength. align periodically with ur blk comm on the objectives and goals set aside at ur 1st meeting, motivate and encourage each other. being the chair of 101 residents is no easy feat, but being chosen from the 101 residents to lead the remaining 100 means smthing. believe in yourself, be calm, converse with fyfs and formulate your plans rationally.

your journey has jus started. trust me its going to be a fruitful and an enriching one. like wat i said in SLO before, 'the blkheads are the kings of the hall, they can make any lousy hall event good or good hall event lousy' . yes, its that influential.

sometimes when i sit back, silently observe and peoplewatch, i feel like a gardener, i feel the seeds i've sow yrs ago are budding, some even blossoming. i cant help it but feel darn freking proud :)

attended honkie's wedding lunch at the hyatt hotel yest. was simple but sweet. one of my most inspirational snr and hball teammate in kr, nus. he taught me some really interesting things abt bgr and shared some of his insights as well. ha. ;)

apart from the sweet union, there were alot of ex kr pple there, such a pleasure to meet up with them. how i missed the golden girls, mavis, xinyi, ruiyi, yuwei, hongzhen and gang. somehw when i talked with them, the nostaligc feelings comes back, rem the old times when i as a freshie go to their rooms and hung out at their rooms, and they will pamper me with words of encouragement, love and concern. i wanna do the some to the freshies too, im no cheehong. serious, jus spreading the love like hw the snrs did to me.

caught up on old times with ibg glories, achievement, met up super super alumni like shiyin, eileen saw, esther and company. saw the old boys of the 6th fl, ah boon, adrian, vince, keith, edwin, chin.. wonderful reunion! yaa.. and lynn yeo too.. tks for those advice with the interview etc. looking at hon and xinyi, they are together since j1, thats abt a gd decade of dating before settling down.. i wonder if ever i can date someone for 10yrs before signing the papers.

as i stare blankly at my computer screen, alot of events start to unfold, i froze and start the analyze things happening ard me.

hmm. things are changing. so many things are evolving, some i dun even know for the better or worse.

the more i read to it, the more disgusted i feel. maybe the day i stop reading would be the day i totally gt over with it. everyone has freedom to make their own choice, who am i to stop them from making what they think is right?

so, i guess i would move away from them. no point making ownself miserable and awkward trying to solve puzzles.

best friends. wat are best friends? i dun noe know too. things arent as transparent as i hope they are. sometimes ill intentions are masked beneath the so-called true friendships. lets hope things are not as it seems. i hate complicated stuff.

longing for a person is unexplainable. seeking for total forgiveness is equally a marvel. asking for a brand new chance is a godsend. but i think im my heart is still somewhere, hidden in the mudspread. if only if only i could turn back time. ouch. life goes on. can i? may i? shd i?

one of my besties in hall - por eel lian officially left the SHC - singlehood hostelite club and join the attached side of the world. im so happy for him. i see the genuine love in him for each other, the trust and faith for the special someone, the forgiveness and space given for each other. nothing more to add, full admiration. thats y im so darn proud to be part of his megaplan. haha, but then again, this is the way that huan managed to get bid as well.. looks like this is a the REAL master plan singles shd be looking for. haha

all over. a tide of disappointment seep into me. the events co, the MC, coordination with OCC, and our own preparation all resulted in yest dismay performance. i couldnt help it but felt unjust for some of my comm members, the amount of dedication and work done was lopsided, some put in more, the others less and felt rightly so. however its only thru such conditions that made me see the true colors of pple.

for those who questioned how the ticket value is broken down. heres it, do your own math.

in short, i am thankful for those kind words and encouragemnet from alumni, fyf, blk snrs, freshies. this is not the dnd i was hoping to produce, but trust me, my comm did own best. maybe we just didnt do enough still. i would pick up the pieces and move on. this is a tough life lesson and i do finally appreciate hw the previous chairpersons felt..

the show could be better, i apologise to those who held high hopes for me & my comm. the most important lesson i learn is actually people dynamics and EQ over the 1.5sems preparing for this event. those are intangible traits, cant be taught.

face the reality. when one person indicate out your flaw, it maybe just a comment. when 2 person mention the same thing, it maybe a coincidence. when 10 people mentioned the same thing, it is a fact. time for self reflection.

i guess its time for me to pass the baton. thank u 6th-flers for making my life easier.

Dear friends,

How have you all been? I hope things are going good for everyone. In case some of you do not know, I am currently in Nepal, maybe even permanently. I was unable to get an Employment Pass in Singapore and have since come back to Nepal. I am sorry I could not meet up with some of you before leaving as things happened all too suddenly.

Having been here for about 3 weeks, I am already missing the life in Singapore and the good times we all used to have. Having spent such a major part of my life in Singapore, being here in Nepal makes me feel so empty.
Coming back here has made me experience many new things and also given me an opportunity to meet up with relatives I have not seen for years. When I am around them, I am occupied in conversations and somehow feel so much more comfortable and happy. However, when its time to sleep or when I am by myself, I can't help but think about Singapore and all the friends I have left behind.

During the first 2 weeks, I basically attended my Grandma's funeral in the village. This was the best opportunity for me to meet new people as well as all my relatives from various parts of Nepal. I also met up with many of my childhood friends, some of whom I could hardly recognize after so many years. However, we were still able to recall all the good and bad times we had back then.

In the midst of all these happy meetings, an unfortunate incident took place. One night, I was sitting in our balcony with several of my relatives. It was right after dinner and there was a heavy thunderstorm. We were chatting away when a lightning suddenly struck the electrical wires near us. That caused a sudden blackout and at the same time, hit a metal pole beside us. Part of the lightning also struck my aunt. She started screaming in pain and then went unconscious. The rest of us who were nearby also felt the current rush up our bodies. At that moment, I thought we were all going to die. The situation was made worse by the darkness. We were soon able to light a candle and attend to our aunt. There was no way of getting external help so we lay our aunt on the mattress and tried to revive her. Fortunately, she could hear us but was too weak to respond or even open her eyes. This went on for 7 hours. She finally opened her eyes at around 4 am and could say a few words very softly. The next morning, we called a doctor and placed her under drip.
That was a truly scary night for all of us. That single lightning was so powerful that it caused several TV sets in the village to explode and some of my relatives who were on their beds were thrown to the floor. In another village, 5 people died and 35 were seriously injured. I never imagined that a single lightning could cause such damage.

A week later, I was at home in the city. For the first time, I got a chance to watch soccer on TV and check my mail. I also visited an Indian barber for a haircut and a shave. You won't believe this but I only paid 50 cents for a haircut, a shave and a shoulder massage!

I am currently staying in the capital city with my cousin. We have rented an apartment here. Life is really boring as there is nothing uch to do except to buy movies and watch. Movies in DVD form are super cheap as well. One costs just S$1.00.

Well, I think I have taken quite a bit of all your time. Thanks for your patience. I hope to come to Singapore soon and meet up with you guys. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and do update me of any new and interesting happenings there.

couple of interesting things happen within this 2 wks

haha.. confirmed, after alcohol, pple confirm do stupid things, not that im one of them but im observing them. can see mr fzx, mr nan, mr pok.. all of them have hands all over ms imperfect. wth. ha. darn blatant and ugly. bleah. it wasnt an entire a gd night out but stil great to see hot sizzling dance moves from anu, bryna, lish and others. scary. ..

so sad.. mei-en is leaving for sep, shes one of the silver gers that has grown so much together with me. sigh, its like a sister leaving me for some china man. ;) hahaha. think this couple of days would be her last day in hall already.. spent quality time together k!

met up with prof for for fyp, he told me to go ahead with the NLB project. darn. i think hes too busy to supervise us, hes a darn zhai indian la, but only 24hrs a day, how many hrs can he spend on every student to make sure all of us at least get an A? i wanna get an A i wanna get at least 2nd lower.

lastly, the rag presentation at PS wasnt that fantastic an idea afterall, the feeling wasnt rite, the pride and prestige wasnt that. not to mention some accidents that happen that had to cancel some of the flying movements.. felt slightly it was like a chore rather than a pride thing. waiting for hte pics to come and i will upload soon..

anddd.. i will go for dance audtions tmlo. final shot of becoming part of the culture family before i die .. ;)

finally, after months and months of hard work by flag, fwoc and rag, it has come to a beautiful closure. i cldnt imagine having a better fyf gift than the much awaited chancellor shield. more so when i have a role to play in this magnificent feat. im totally impressed by the dedication by the snrs and freshmen alike. the passion and believe by the alumni, totally amirable. i teared again, probably the 4th time in kr. this time its really tears of joy, elated emotions running thru every part of my body.

the chain was stuck after 2 rounds of revolution, but i had to feigned a cycling motion to keep the idea that the mechanism is flowing. eventually we still pull it thru. totally remarkable. i received so many feedback on how gd this rag is.. plenty and generous compliments from alumni and freshies. a big thank you. somehow i ended up having a small major role in this rag performance, i cldnt ask for more. being in it gives me a even greater sense of satisfaction, together with my 6th fl buddies, ken, ben, yq, yz, ron, wilz, alvin, albert each having a role to play. thank u!

im shagged, but im happy. and every moment spend on it is worth it. im proud to say im a freaking kronos conductor, the one that won the President Chancellor shield! steam away baby.

yep, im back comfortably settled down in hall. all the memories of how fwoc affect each kr resident comes back to life again. its so bittersweet. we had our 1st snrs gathering meeting yest, felt really gd to be back in kr again. i am going to treat this sem like my last, coz alot of my yr3 batch pple are heading for sep in sem2, so that means no1 would be there for my command. had

a conversation with king yest, once again reminded me how foolish i was, to throw away such a chance. sigh. time to get serious on my thesis, dnd and ibg.

nothing much to update. here are some of the pics taken at the SHL (sg handball league finals yest), im the official camera man. ha. hope there would still be one next yr, so i can play again.

hi, im back in singapore. i would say the tour ard hk is great in some way, not in others. the food and companionship is excellent.. but the weather and the crowd is a dismay. its really fun, to know other halls' handball players better.

lessons learnt
1. its nt easy being a team manager at all, more so as a coach, muz be able to deal with tactics, human politics, team managing, team motivation and sometime double up as a physiotherapist

2. tactical sense. we have to react to different scenario with regards to team play. no definite rules for a single game. we muz learn to read the game, be humble but at the same time be confident. nt a easy call to manage substitutions, esp when the player is down or up, u make the call.

3. relationship mgmt. not bgr. but more of corporate and long term relationships. all the 20 or so coaches/team managers there have namecards and umpteen years of experience in coaches, and they have NAMECARDS.. most of them are associate profs etc .. so they are pretty professional in dealing with contacts n stuff.. we are so pathetic, we need to write on blank pieces of paper and tear and pass to them... so sadd..

4. shopping. hk is a heaven for shopping. its quite scary. all the sports wear there are incredible! i blew abt 1.2k jus on shopping and eating alone..wah lau. scary.. but i think its a worthwhile buy. im quite happy over the purchases i've made. but i think abit too little.

5. people. hk pple are generally more on the go. they seems to be rushing for alot of stuff. the pace they are walking, the speed they eat their meals, even the way they shop. but i would say they are a definite more civilised bunch than the PRCs.. my experience at the ocean park was disgusting.. sigh.. and also, pple there are generally shorter than sgreans.. i feel.

its a gd and fulfilling trip nevertheless, next yr macau.

hey all, saw a couple of msn nicks, think fwoc did a gd job, quite a few number of pple commented the snrs camp was gd. well done, now prepare to wait for the freshies to come in, and of coz help rag when you guys are free. gd job fwocers!

ok, the journey continues at hk, it rained for the past 2 days, the air is slightly cleaner, the greenery more obvious, the weather less humid. in short, it feels like singapore once again. we played 2 of our games, both guys and gers.

guys team, lost both matches, i feel it is how the team that mature that matters, at the 2nd game, i think they played beautifully, except for the stamina, tactically wise, we are lacking strongly.. but will wise, i think we won!

gers team: their 1st win yesterday night, we triumph over hong kong university by 5 goals, 18-13, brilliant performance, i think yiying (SH winger) did the best, as an indiv and as a team player. but some work has to be done on the coordination of defence, communicate who to mark and when to let go. but its a major feat to win over a team with professional coach and excellent training facilities. however, it was abit in a awkward situation as our liason officer, amanda is one of the players in the game, and i think for a while, she was massacre on the court, our gers are fierce, maybe anot too much. all these are part of the game, no right or wrong, its all jusst part of the game.

hi all, we are in hong kong university science and technology. its summer here, very very warm. the people here are warm too. a wrong perception of commoners, hongkongers can speak chinese and english, infact english is actually very often spoken here, all their classes are conducted in english and they can speak mandarin too. very gd, actually sg looks really very similiar to hk, the rds, the univ, the street lamps, even the bus terminals. wonder who copy who.

heres some of the snap shots along the journey. i've managed to get my internet access activated in the hk uni hostel, its air-conditioned room! just had a team manager meeting, its nt as simple as i thought, it works on details like color of jerseys, drinking water, time of warm up etc etc.. small things that i never consider. its a gd learning experience.

the funeral is over, tks to those who asked and expressed concern, appreciated it. well, over the past nights there, i think i had a crash course on all the family feuds and issues, wasnt entirely a pleasant experience. but ultimately i learnt a lesson, to really cherish our loved ones, take every living day as a gift, nt granted.

and it came to me as a surprise even kins can squabble over the dreaded necessity, money. its a sad world. but i guess this is reality. i muz learn to cope with the issues of money, too much or too little is a problem.

now, im getting back to deal with dnd stuff. Rp stuff and also hk hball stuff.

anyway, my younger bro graduated from poly yest, he did well in my opinion, managed a couple of sems in deans list and gt a place in nus, Mec engin. gd enff. took some pics for his grad.

behind every beautiful rose, there are loads of nurturing, not to mention the thorny issues and pricks.

i learnt to see further than just the facade.

oh, this pic is taken for anu's graduating performance, i must say she rox big time. guess who the guest of honour is, its president nathan. incredible, gd job girl.

what a change of events. jus yest morn mum came in my room at 6plus am and told me that my eldest uncle, uncle you had just passed away. i was shocked, he was only 63. we rushed down only to see the weeping wife, my other uncles.

my, uncle you left peacefully. he wasnt struggling. it has a peaceful farewell expression. i cldnt control myself but weeped when i saw my dad wailing over his lost brother. sigh. this is hard. i remembered uncle was a patient and gentlemanly person, never lost his cool and taking things slowly.

gonna help out with his family on the funeral stuff.

so ironic, the only time the whole extended family is present is only either during extremly condition. very happy or very sad.

only on chinese new year, or funerals. thats why my dad said that maybe death is an alternative of amiable gatherings, all family feuds put aside to pay the last respect to the fallen man.

goodbye uncle you. we will miss you
